Persian Art

Most of these pieces come set in khatam inlaid frames. The khatam karee technique dates back to at least the Safavid era. It involves applying tiny pieces of wood, metals and other materials in patterns to a (usually) wooden surface and then lacquered for preservation.

These framed works of art present a variety of themes and influences, so there is something to suit every taste.  Many of them are signed by the artists.
