Persian Art
These designs come set in khatam inlaid
frames. The khatam karee technique dates back to at least the Safavid
era. It involves applying tiny pieces of wood, metals and other materials in
patterns to a (usually) wooden surface and then lacquered for preservation. These framed works of art present a variety of themes and influences, so there is something to suit every taste.
