Item No. KH318

Here you can see an enlarged view of this very nice box.  It's fully lined in soft red felt.

The lid is hand-painted and features a youth engaged in a game of polo. Led by the legendary Genghis Khan, the Mongols moved west and conquered Persia in the early 13th century. Their lasting influence on Persian arts and culture, including polo, can be observed to this day. The landscape is also shown in the background, including a lake, cacti and shrubbery.

The pattern around the painting is known as esleemee in Persian. There is no exact translation, but it is similar to the mosaic work seen in much of central Asia.

This would be a great item for storing men's jewelry or a nice business gift. Dimensions: 11 cm x 8 cm x 5.5 cm
