Drouville, Gaspard. Safar dar Iran. Translated into Persian by Manoucher Etemad Moqadam. Travelogue, 368 pages, illustrations, 24 cm. The original French title was Voyage en Perse. Drouville was a contemporary of James Morier, author of Hajji Baba of Isfahan. Morier recalls that Drouville had deserted the French military and defected to the British, who sent him to Persia. Drouville became an advisor to Prince Abbas Mirza Qajar. Tehran: Shabaviz, Persian year 1370 (1991 CE). Softcover. There is noticeable cover wear, especially on the spine, and light pencil underlining on several pages. Mega rare book. $37.99

Tavernier, Jean-Baptiste. Safr-Name-ye Tavernier.  Travelogue, 810 pages, illustrations, 24 cm. The travelogue of a well-known, 17th-century French explorer and diamond merchant, best remembered for his purchase of the Hope Diamond. Tavernier's travels included Persia, and he is known to have visited Isfahan as well as other parts of the Persian Empire. This edition is entirely in Persian, translated by Abu Trab Nouri and edited by Dr. Hamid Shirani. Tehran: Ketab Khane-ye Sanai'i, Persian Year 1369 (1990 CE). Hardcover. There are beak imprints on the bottom front cover and on the top of the back cover (click on the image for enlarged views) as well as light pencil writing on many pages. One of a limited edition of 1500 copies; extremely rare.
