Hafez

Hafez (1320-1389) is best known as a Sufi mystic who incorporated elements of Sufism into his verses.  The state of God-Realisation is symbolised through union with a Beloved, and drinking the wine of spiritual love.  There is much mythology but little factual information available about his life; he is known to have been a great admirer of his predecessor and fellow Shirazi Sa'di as well as Attar, Rumi and Nizami.

The fal-e-Hafez cards are very popular, and we receive many inquiries asking if they are available in English.  Unfortunately, we have not been able to locate an all-English version yet, but we are continuing to try.

The Divan of Hafez is a great alternative - and you don't have to worry about losing or misplacing cards from the set!  The procedure is very similar to using the cards: concentrate on a question or issue, and then open the book at random (wherever it feels right). Then turn to the beginning of the poem  (if you're not already there).  For additional clarification, or to 'seal your fate', read the first three lines of the next poem as well.
